living sent
We read in Matthew 28: 19-20 and again in Act’s 1:8 that the followers of Christ are sent people, sent with a purpose to the very ends of the earth. Over 40 times in the book of John Jesus uses the word "sent" in relationship to Himself and the Father, God is a sending God, He sent the Son and the Son sends us. There is no oneness in Christ without participation in His mission to the world. only as congregations intentionally live out their nature as the missionary people, being a sent people of God, will the Church begin to emerge to become in fact what it is by faith. by the very act of confessing our faith in Jesus, claiming to be in the body, church of Jesus, we intentionally and unavoidably commit ourselves to participate in God’s mission redemption to the world. Being a Christian is summed up in living sent, being on mission, continuing Jesus mission on earth. Being engaged in mission the church lives out its very nature and essence – the called out people of God calling out others to join them in the mission of God. Mission is both impetus and goal. Therefore we live sent.
