core values

we as the body and church of Christ seek to be:

community

We are real people who acknowledge our sinfulness and embrace our inadequacy to love Jesus and each other, as we should. We love the Bible and simply seek to believe it and live it everyday in community with one another. We chose live our lives in this world by pure grace knowing that we can't live the Christian life alone! That we were created and meant to live in community with other, that the Christian life cannot be truly, completely lived out except in community with other believers.

Thus we exist to be a city within the city to demonstrate what life should really look like in Jesus' kingdom. Our collective desire is to intimately know, closely follow, and perpetually glorify God by living passionately for Jesus and His mission.

biblically faithful

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work. I Tim 3:16-17. Therefore we want to shape our lives and our life together in obedience to the Bible which we believe to be the reliable, authoritative and sufficient word of God. To this end we are committed to verse-by-verse Bible teaching and learning of the entire bible. We do not see Bible teaching as an end in itself, but as that which must shape our thinking, action, understanding of God, the Kingdom of God and the Mission of God, the story we find ourselves in.

At its foundation the body of Christ must be biblically faithful. Often we hear, “We need to make the Bible relevant.” No need. It already is. Our job is to present it in ways that help the hearer see that it is relevant in our and in every culture. We study the scriptures, the whole bible, it is our daily food just as it was for Jesus.

gospel centered

The gospel is at the hart of who we are and why we are, it is our motive to how we live our lives, the center of our relationship with each other and the world. It is the lens through which we read and interpret all scripture. The gospel is functional central to our lives, we both incarnate and proclaim it to the world.

It means we are passionately consumed with the gospel, in intentionally thinking about the gospel, reflecting upon it, delighting in it, letting it effect the way we look at the world and all of life. And by doing so it will change the way one thinks, act, lives, defines who we are and our very purpose in life, our worldview and the way we interpret scripture and life. And one cannot separate being gospel-centered and being mission-centered, for the gospel is a missionary term. The gospel is good news. It is good news to be proclaimed, and to be taken to others. You cannot be committed to the gospel without being committed to proclaiming that gospel, Jesus said so.

reproducing community

Let’s not go plant a church, let’s go be the church into people’s lives, is our creed. Simply stated, followers of Jesus plant and water. God causes the growth. We are about making disciples as Jesus told us to and we leave the growth to Him. And as He brings growth (Acts 9:31), the result of descipling is the natural act of anything organic it reproduces. Those we disciple will go on to disciple others and their homes become house churches in their neighborhoods. Jesus said "follow me and I will make you fishers of men", so we go fishing with Him, but with Him it is catch and release fishing, knowing each person is to be released when ready to become fishers of men themselves, to disciple others, to be the church in the lives of others, and turn their houses into The Church Next Door, to be a house church.
